Source:“Exxon Mobil agrees to pay $1.6 million in penalties to the state of Montana for pollution caused by a pipeline break last summer that fouled dozens of miles of shoreline along the Yellowstone River. Of that amount, $300,000 is a cash fine and the rest is to go toward future environmental projects. Exxon says that more than 63,000 gallons of crude swept into the river. [The Associated Press]”
Seems like a small $ amount…
stevevance said: Is that even enough to clean up? Or has EM already cleaned it up?
The AP article says Exxon contractors were involved at the peak of the spill, helping clean. But “only about 10 barrels of crude were recovered by cleanup crews…That’s less than 1 percent of the total spilled.”
Also, as of Thursday, “Exxon increased its estimate of how much crude spilled into the river” by over 1,000 barrels. Knowing the small amount I do about CERCLA & Superfund cleanup costs, the $300,000 in cash they are paying for cleanup will not come close to covering the costs of clean up. Environmental cleanups cost ridiculous amount of money.
this may be the greatest thing i have ever blogged
this is absolutely amazing.

I love this guy soooo much!!!
I used to listen to his radio show almost everynight back in high school in my home town and then all of a sudden it was nowhere to be heard in Texas!!! And finally I’ve found an app of a radio station. Big Dog 97.9. No clue where that station is!!! BUT THEY HAVE AWESOME CLASSIC ROCK!!! So finally I can now smoke a bowl and listen to the man who I thought I would never get to see in concert (i have now seen him twice and will go every chance I can until I die). Life is so good right now.

Free New Song: This is Not a War
Hi gang! I hope your New Years and preceding holidays were good. I recently returned to Chicago after visiting Phoenix for three weeks to visit friends and family. What a great three weeks I’ve had!
Anyway, about two weeks ago Ben and I went into audioconfusion studios to record a few odds and ends and ended up with 3 songs, two for some Sweet Projects, and one for the thing that is called Occupy Wallstreet,, which we recorded with AJJ lifer and ultimate friend Dylan Cook. We admire the Occupiers commitment to non-violence and creating a fairer economy, and we hope that it continues until until it no longer needs to. This song is also kind of a prayer, wishing the greed that is undermining our country is motivated by love. I don’t want to believe that evil truly exists.
Here is my favorite perspective on Occupy Wallstreet, taken from the intelligent and funny Jay Smooth of illDoctrine.com : Click for awesome video
Here’s where you can download the song
Thanks for reading and take care,
-sean
Listen to this song!!! It’s so spot on.
this is awesome. OCCUPY NEEDS MORE SONGS, BOOKS, ARTICLES, ETC!!! PEOPLE LETS BE CREATIVE AND MAKE A NEW COUNTER CULTURE!!!!

Anti-evolution bills to be revived in 2012
One bill mandates teaching evolution as a theory and another would require teachers to stress that scientific facts can be changed due to research.
this is ridiculous
